'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result sealed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to manage and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for club and country, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
